SELF-GUIDED AND FOR GROUPS

This route leads through the picturesque areas northern Poland. It is an ideal solution for people who want to combine active recreation with observing beautiful nature. We would like to offer you a cycling trip around the extremely picturesque Warmia. It is worth taking this route not only because of the interesting landscape, but also because of the places worth visiting as tourists.

During the tour you will also visit the most important sights of Warmia: the bishop’s castles in Frombork, Lidzbark Warmiński and Olsztyn, an unusual monument of technology – the Elbląg Canal and you will learn about the Mennonite culture. While visiting these places you will travel along waterways – the Vistula Lagoon, the beautiful Lyna River and numerous lakes.

After a day full of activity and excitement, we offer you a rest in comfortable hotels. We planned accommodation in double rooms with bathrooms. The facilities also have space to relax, for example in the garden or by the lake.

Day 1: Gdańsk – Elbląg

Transfer by bus from Gdańsk to Elbląg

Sightseeing of Elbląg on foot or by bike (distance on bike approx. 8 km)

Day 2: Elbląg – Braniewo, distance approx. 66 km

Along Green Velo Trail

Along Vistula Lagoon

Elbląg Upland Landscape Park

Kadyny – Kaiser Wilhelm II Palace

Frombork – Warmian Bishops’ Castle where Nicolaus Copernicus lived, Nicolaus Copernicus Museum (Museum od Medicine), Basilica of the Virgin Mary and St Andrew, market square, Cathedral Hill

Braniewo – ruins of the Bishop’s castle, St Catherine of Alexandria Basilica

 

 

Day 3: Braniewo – Orneta, distance approx. 56 km

Along Green Velo Trail

Pieniężno – ruins of the Bishop’s castle

Orneta – 14th century town hall crowned with a tower housing the oldest bell in Warmia, Bishop’s castle, market square

Day 4: Orneta – Lidzbark Warmiński distance approx. 35 km/65 km

Bike trip along old railway line – cycling trail

Lidzbark Warmiński – Bishop’s castle, collegiate church of St. Apostles Peter and Paul, market square, High Gate

Optionally you can extend the trip along Łyna river and by Green Velo trail come back to Lidzbark.

Day 5: Lidzbark Warmiński – Olsztyn, distance approx.  65 km

Dobre Miasto – The Collegiate Basilica of St. Cathedral of the Most Holy Savior and All Saints – Warmia’s second-largest church

Olsztyn capital of the Warmia region, you will visit: the Warmian Bishops’ Castle where Nicolaus Copernicus lived, the 15th century High Gate, the Basilica of St James the Apostle, and fragments of the 14th-15th century town walls.

Day 6: Olsztyn – Ostróda, distance approx. 46 km

Ostróda – castle of the Teutonic Order, Evangelical-Methodist Church of God’s Grace with an observation tower, Drwęckie Lake with promenade and spectacular pier, amphitheater, city beach and marinas.

Day 7: Ostróda – Małdyty, distance approx. 40 km

Bike trip along The Ostródzko-Elbląski channel (known as “Elbląski canal” – unique hydro-technical system, which connects Western-Masurian (Oberland) lakes with the Vistula Reservoir

Miłomlyn – an important water node, with the historic Miłomłyn lock is on the Elbląski Canal

Małdyty – neo-Gothic palace annex belonging to the estate of King Augustus II the Strong

Day 8: Małdyty – Elbląg

Bike trip along The Ostródzko-Elbląski channel – along slipways – You’ll see ships glide through the grass and over the hills!

Żuławy Wiślane – learn about Mennonite culture and architecture

Day 9: Elbląg – Gdańsk

Transfer by bus after breakfast to Gdańsk
