Day 1 Cracow – Przemyśl

Transfer by bus from Cracow ot Przemyśl, accommodation

Short trip around Przemyśl, distance approx. 10 km

Your week-long bicycle adventure in the eastern borderland of Poland will begin with a tour of Przemyśl. You will visit the Tatar Mound offering a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the surrounding area, as well as some of the buildings that make up the inner ring of the Przemyśl Fortress.

From the Mound you will set off to the Old Town through the Castle Park, where the Kazimierzowski Castle is located. The Old Town, in turn, hides such architectural gems as the Archcathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist and St. Peter and Paul. St. John the Baptist and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. John the Baptist Greek Catholic Cathedral.

Day 2: Przemyśl – Korczowa, distance approx. 55 km

On the second day you will already set off on a journey along the Green Velo trail to the north. The first point of interest on our trail will be the arboretum in Bolestraszyce. It is a magnificent garden with naturally valuable and endangered plants. A walk through the wicker maze and a panorama of the garden from the observation deck will be an unusual experience.

A distinctive and inseparable architectural and cultural element of the eastern borderland are Orthodox churches. You will visit the UNESCO World Heritage church in Chotyniec. There will also be an opportunity to admire many other smaller churches scattered across the eastern borderland.

Day 3: Korczowa – Horyniec, distance approx. 55 km

Wielkie Oczy – St. Nicholas Orthodox Church

Radruż – St. Paraskeva Orthodox Church inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List

Horyniec – Zdrój – this small town has been a resort since the late 19th century. However, legend has it that as early as the end of the 17th century King John III Sobieski and Queen Marysieńka stayed here for therapeutic purposes. Horyniec owes its fame to its therapeutic mud, the so-called “Black Gold.” Those who visit can also take a stroll through the park, which was established before the war and recently renovated and taste the therapeutic mineral waters in a beautiful pavilion.

Day 4: Horyniec – Susiec, distance approx. 50 km (Southern Roztocze Region)

The second part of the trip will be a journey through southern and central Roztocze. The so-called Zamojszczyzna region has interesting sights and numerous natural wonders to offer. The name Zamoyszczyzna comes from the name of a powerful aristocratic family Zamoyjski, that owned the land from the 15th to the 20th century. They left above all, beautiful architecture in Zwierzyniec, Krasnobród and Zamość, which you will visit during this trip.

On this day you will also visit Narol, an intimate town where you will find the impressive palace of the Łoś family from the 18th century.

An ideal place to relax close to nature will be the Szumy Nature Reserve on the Tanew River. This is an exceptionally place, where a series of small waterfalls provide tourists’ ears with a pleasant and soothing hum.

Day 5: Susiec – Zwierzyniec, distance approx. 35 km

On this day you will traverse the picturesque forests of the Solska Forest and Roztoczanski National Park. The latter was once part of the Zamoyski’s estate. Today the forest ducts, without automobile traffic, are like highways for a bicycle traveler.

In Jozefow you will be able to admire the quarries with an observation tower. The town is famous for its stone products.

Florianka – lost in the forest is a 19th-century farmstead belonging to the Zamoyski Ordinance with an old-growth forest of maples and sycamores, remembering the time when the settlement was founded. Today a reserve breeding of Polish horse is carried out here. A few kilometers away you will find Echo Ponds, lost in the forest, with a resting place on the beach.

Day 6: Zwierzyniec

Option 1: kayaking on Wieprz River, distance approx. 12 km, during time approx. 3-4 hours

Option 2: bike trip to Szczebrzeszyn, distance approx. 45 km

Through Zwierzyniec flows the inconspicuous Wieprz River, which we can organize for you a canoeing trip. You will admire the idyllic hills and villages are from the perspective of water.

If the weather will not be very favorable for the kayaking we will take you on a special section of this trip – to the loess ravines in the vicinity of Szczebrzeszyn. The mysterious paths of the Szczebrzeszyn Landscape Park will lead you to the ridges of the highest hills in the area. Through their tops you will rush towards Szczebrzeszyn, of course to meet the beetle – the symbol of the town.

Day 6: Visiting of Zwierzyniec, afternoon

Zwierzyniec – in the 16th century the Zamoyski family took a liking to this area for hunting wild animals. It was also here that the administration of the ordinance was moved from Zamosc and a residence – a palace – was built. Zwierzyniec at the turn of the 20th century became a fashionable summer resort. Today it is a picturesque town located in the heart of the Roztocze National Park, full of greenery and monuments that you will have the pleasure of seeing. It is worth stopping here for a long while to feast your eye on the surrounding nature and architecture.

During your stay in Zwierzyniec, you can visit the Zwierzyniec brewery dating back to the 19th century. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the functioning of the brewhouse – you will explore the secrets of weighing beer, see the production rooms, and there will be a beer tasting at the end of the tour;

Day 7: Zwierzyniec – Zamość, distance approx. 60 km

On the way to the last point of the program – Zamość, we you visit an inconspicuous open-air museum and inn – Guciów. There is an exceptionally idyllic atmosphere here: in addition to historic cottages and a small museum… of fossils, you will have the opportunity to taste local dishes, for example, nettle soup, and buy regional products (honey, liqueurs, cured meats).

Next stop on your trip will be Krasnobród. Here you can take a break for lunch and a swim in the lake. But it’s also worth visiting the Marian Sanctuary here – a church founded in the late 17th century by Queen Marysienka in gratitude for her healing. Nearby is the Chapel of the Apparitions on the Water from the 18th century. Under the chapel, set on stilts, beats a spring of water with healing powers.

Day 7: Visiting of Zamość, afternoon

Zamość – meet the ideal city! According to its founder, Jan Zamoyski, it was to be beautiful, functional and safe. It should harmoniously combine economic, cultural, scientific and religious life. Shall we check if it is still like that? We will be greeted by the walls of the fortress surrounding the old town. And although they no longer serve a defensive function, they make an impressive impression. Behind them, in turn, are the architectural gems of Zamoyski: the cathedral, the Zamoyski palace and academy. The icing on the cake of this trip, the closing accent and, at the same time, the heart of the city is the beautiful and colorful market square with the magnificent town hall.

It is impossible to describe all the attractions to you here. The best way to get to know this piece of Poland is simply to go on a bicycle trip along the enchanting Green Velo trail.
